2018-2019 Central SchoolForce Chairs

Aaron & Kirsten Daru

This is the Daru's first year as Central's SchoolForce chairs.  They have two children at Central, twins entering fourth grade.  They are excited to bring SchoolForce news and events to the Central community and help us all support the foundation.  Please don't hesitate to contact them with any SchoolForce-related questions at central@schoolforce.org. They are looking forward to working with you!

Save the Music!

Have you heard about SchoolForce's annual Save the Music Festival? It is a time to raise funds so we can keep music programs in our schools; this fun day includes carnival games, all sorts of delicious food and of course, music!  Bands from our district schools, professional music groups and talented community members all take to the stage to celebrate music and help keep it in our schools. This year a highlight will be the Battle of the Bands, pitting UC Davis against Stanford!

Join us at Twin Pines Park on October 14th from 11am to 5:30pm, for games, music, food and fun!

We need volunteers to help make this event successful, and we hope that you can help!  From Carnival Games to Hospitality Booths, Children's Activities to "Roadies" for the bands - we could use your help for a few hours or the entire day, and there is an opportunity to suit every skill set!

From set up up on Saturday October 13th through clean up on Sunday October 14th, if you are able to cover a shift or two, please email the Save the Music coordinator, Martha Johnson.

Thank you for supporting SchoolForce, and helping us Save the Music!

How does SchoolForce work with the Central PTA to support our kids?

The basic way to remember how we work together is this: SchoolForce funds staff, including music, library, science and reading specialists. The PTA funds stuff, including assemblies, classroom materials and social events. SchoolForce operates at a district level and is able to keep our teacher:student ratios strong, our "extras" like art and music running, and the science and technology programs that help make our schools so excellent. PTA operates on a campus level, and is able to build school communities and support teachers directly with training, supplies, and volunteer hours from parents.

We encourage all district parents to understand the missions of both the PTA and SchoolForce, and to support them generously with your financial donations and volunteer hours.  Thank you!

In order to maintain the vital programs SchoolForce provides to Central and our district, all families are asked to make a donation of $1500 per child.  While $1500 is a lot of money, it is used to directly support the outstanding education your child receives, and by donating $125 per month you help guarantee that our district can provide this high caliber program.  Please give as generously as you can; when SchoolForce is strong, every child benefits.
