Welcome Letter

Hello Central Families,

I hope that you and your family have had a wonderful summer. My name is Chris Marchetti, and I am extremely happy to join the staff at Central Elementary School as the new Principal. I am truly honored to be appointed to this position, and I look forward to partnering with you to provide our students with a rigorous, engaging and high-quality experience.

As some of you may already know, I have worked for the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District as a teacher, Dean of Students and Principal for 27 years. Before taking on this new challenge, I served as the Principal at Fox Elementary School for 14 years. Even though I will always love Fox, I recognize and appreciate the work that the Central staff, students and parents have done to establish such a high baseline of achievement. I will continue to grow this tradition of excellence. For the past 8 years, I have worked closely with Donna Sims, and I have been fortunate enough to work with and get to know many of the Central teachers.

My primary objective is to ensure that every child is provided with the highest quality education possible in a safe, supportive learning environment. In order to do this, I will be providing teachers with classroom support and feedback on their instruction, access to professional development opportunities and promoting parent support to ensure that our students are building a foundation for college and career success as we move into a challenging 21st century.

As the parent of two, a senior in high school and a first grader, I recognize the importance of a strong home-school connection. Along with teachers and staff, I look forward to building relationships with parents, students and community members. I believe that by working together, we can make sure that every student at Central has the opportunity to achieve his/her potential intellectually, socially and ethically.

We have some changes to our staffing with regard to teaching positions and grade level assignments. This year, we welcome Sandra Kurpjuweit to Central’s fifth grade team, and both Gina Bruno and Sheridan Reyes to Central’s second grade team.  Candace Temer will also be joining the second grade team. Christine Wilkins and Lisa Azzopardi will be moving to fifth and third grades, respectively. We are also pleased to welcome Nanette Mahar as our new librarian.

My door is always open, and I am always here to support you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns or ideas that you would like to share. I look forward to the opportunity to serve a school community with a history of high achievement and a strong tradition of success.
