Getting to School Safely
As we all know, mornings can sometimes be a bit hectic. To make sure we can all arrive at school as quickly and safely as possible, please be sure to pay attention to these simple rules:
Use the Kiddy Valet service in the morning. Parents and trained 5th graders are waiting curbside to assist your child (editor's note: I saw Cori doing this training--she lined the kids up, gave them oral instruction, and then went and got her car and had them practice door opening techniques and proper salutations).
When dropping your child off, please pull your car up as far forward as you can to maximize the number of children that can be dropped off at the same time.
If you are using the top of Middle Road for drop off either by walking or driving, do not allow children to cross anywhere on Middle Road except at the crosswalk. Please do not drop your child off without first pulling over to the shoulder and stopping.
Be cautious when turning into Central's drive, and watch for children crossing at the top of the driveway. This is especially critical at times when the sun is low and in drivers' eyes that are turning left into the drive; pedestrians in the shadow of the pepper tree CANNOT be seen by these drivers.
Finally, please do not block our neighbor's driveways, even temporarily, or use their driveways to back in and out. It is important that we are considerate of our neighbors, as well as each other, in maintaining safety.
