At Central, kindergarten teachers work together to focus on the whole child – academically, emotionally, socially and physically.  Our curriculum adheres to the rigorous California State Standards as we strive to reach every child’s academic potential.  We also find ways every day to give our children opportunities to play, to make social connections, to become independent and responsible, and to explore their creativity.
“Kindergarten at Central rocks,” says a child in Room B who just finished painting Monet’s water lily pond and Japanese footbridge.  While Central kindergarteners spend time learning reading and writing strategies, math skills, as well as science and social studies concepts, they also spend the year investigating some of the great artists of the world.  From Monet to Van Gogh…O’Keeffe to Matisse…students get to know the artists’ life histories, what inspired them and what art techniques made them unique.  The children broaden their world through exploration and experimentation of art techniques and through art appreciation.  Students, teachers, and parents agree: Kindergarten really does rock!
